How to check a Florida roofer's licence
A licence number on a truck or a website is a claim. Looking it up takes a few minutes and tells you whether the claim is true today.
Where to look
Florida contractor licences are on the state register run by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, at myfloridalicense.com. Use its licence search with the number, or with the business or person’s name.
What to compare
- The name. The licence holder, or the business it is tied to, should match the company on your estimate.
- The status. It should show as current and active.
- The licence type. The record says what kind of licence it is. Roofing licences in Florida often start with CCC. If the number is for a different trade, ask the business to explain what it lets them do on your roof.
- Complaints or discipline. The record can show public complaints or actions. Read them before deciding.
If something does not match
Ask the business. There can be simple reasons, such as a licence held by the company’s qualifying agent rather than the owner. If the answers are unclear, or there is no licence at all, take that seriously before you sign or pay.
Local registrations
Some counties and cities also keep their own contractor registrations. Your local building department can tell you what applies where you live.
326 roofers in the directory publish a licence number (as of November 6, 2026). We record it as published; we do not confirm it is active, so please look it up.
This is general information, not legal, insurance or contracting advice. Every property is different: confirm details with the pro, your insurer and, for roofs, your roof manufacturer’s guidance and warranty.
